*Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori Advocates Stronger Host Community Partnerships for Pipeline Security*

The Chairman, House Committee on Public Petitions, Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, addressed participants at the Joint House of Representatives Committees on Host Communities and Public Petitions Legislative Roundtable held in Owerri, Imo State.



The roundtable, themed “Strengthening Pipeline Surveillance Through Host Communities’ Partnership, Accountability and Sustainable Development Under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021,” brought together community youths, traditional rulers, industry stakeholders, and representatives of International Oil Companies (IOCs).


In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti emphasized the critical role of collaboration, accountability, and mutual trust in creating a peaceful and business-friendly environment that benefits host communities, investors, and the nation at large.



He further highlighted the importance of community partnership in safeguarding critical oil and gas infrastructure, noting that effective pipeline security can only be achieved through inclusive engagement and strict adherence to the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
