 *EIGHT (8) INMATES REGAIN FREEDOM AT THE MEDIUM SECURITY CUSTODIAL CENTER NUMAN ON CHRISTMAS DAY* 

The Member Representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B Laori celebrated Christmas with inmates at the Medium Security Custodial Center, Numan.

The Federal Lawmaker took time to engage the inmates constructively, urging them to remain hopeful as they reflect on the cause of their lives.

The engagement culminated in the payment of fines of 8 inmates which led to their regained freedom.

While engaging them, the Law Maker urged those released to tow the path of productive life that is crime free. 

He stressed that being an ex convict could attract stigmatization but they   must be tolerant and deliberate in their effort to regaining the confidence of society by engaging only in ventures that positively impact their lives and the larger society, rather than idleness and crime. 

While Counseling those leaving the Center, Laori stressed that "one may serve a jail term and still be very useful to himself and the society, it's a matter of choice. He urged them to be responsible and law abiding citizens, and totally avoid idleness, for an idle mind is the devil's workshop"

In his remark, ACC Anthony Sanda, the Officer in Charge of the Numan Correctional Center who also moderated the visit, ACC Sanda applauded Laori for his humility and service to humanity.

The Controller expressed his joy stating that "today is the happiest day of his life" seeing all that happened. The inmates took turns to pray God's protection and blessings for the Member to continue to do more in his uncommon demonstration of love and service to mankind.

The inmates who regained freedom on account of Laori's Christmas Visit include:

The freed inmates who were visibly elated at the taste of freedom, could not hide their joy as they promised to be utilize their freedom to lead a better and responsible life.

They all expressed their appreciation to Hon. Laori whom they termed as "a Savior on Christmas Day" for offering  them another chance in life as free Citizens.

The Leader of the inmates informed the Member of the new skill/trade he learned in detention and  presented a beautifully Zanna Cap which he weaved as present to the Rt. Hon in appreciation of the latter's visit and kind gesture to the Center.

At the end of the visit, the Law Maker donated some assorted foodstuff, vegetable oil, Grinding Machine, Blankets, Mats as well as brand new Sewing Machines to encourage Skill Acquisition in the Medium Security Custodial Center, Numan.

Those who accompanied Laori during the visit include Rt Hon. Pwamwakaino Makondo- the Dep. Speaker Adamawa State, Prof. Dishi Khobe- Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Christian Prison Ministry and a host of friends and political associates.

For all the Staff and inmates, it was such a Christmas Celebration they wish never ended, as they eat and drink in celebration of Christmas with the Law Maker.

The Member Representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon Kwamoti Laori has distributed bags of rice to the religious bodies of CAN and the Muslim council in the three local governments areas that make up his constituency.

While giving the items at his Constituency Office in Numan the lawmaker admonished the leaders to always preach religious harmony so as to maintain a peaceful coexistence and pray for the peace and prosperity of the land.

He said Christmas period is a time of exchanging gifts and to also reflect on the need to love one another.

The religious leaders appreciated the gesture and applauded the legislator for the numerous developmental projects he is embarking on through out the 3 Local Government areas, saying it is life impacting.

Present to receive the gift on behalf of their groups are Rev. Emmanuel Augustine (CAN Chairman Numan), Rev. Steven Babada (CAN Chairman Demsa) Rev. Celestine Bafyau (CAN Chairman Lamurde) Alh. HON. LAORI LEGISLATES FOR THE PROPER MANAGEMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH CASES IN THE COUNTRY

The Member representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Kwamoti B LAORI  has made a case for the promotion and proper management of mental health challenges in the country. 

The Bill was read today on the floor of the hallowed chamber of the House of Representatives.

 The Bill, which is titled: "A BILL FOR AN ACT TO ENACT THE NIGERIAN MENTAL HEALTH BILL TO PROVIDE FOR THE PROMOTION AND COMPREHENSIVE MANAGEMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH IN NIGERIA AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS 2021." has scaled first Reading.

The Bill according to  Hon. Laori seeks to provide for the promotion and comprehensive management of mental health in Nigeria. 

This development he views as very crucial in the life of every individual in the country because he posits that.."if you are not affected directly, you can still be indirectly affected through family members or even friends"

The law maker maintained that owing to the spate of violence and insecurity across Nigeria, many Nigerians have been traumatized, coupled with  rising cases of mental health due to socio-economic induced stress and hardship which calls for urgent action to address.

He further emphasized that the  rising cases of suicide amongst young population due to depression and other associated factors which the Bill also seeks to address is very significant in human welfare and development.

Hon Kwamoti stressed that Persons with mental disorder, mental impairment and the likes do not often receive the care they deserve due to some hitches which the Bill seeks to straighten.

Other issues contained in the Bill aimed at ensuring persons with mental disorder enjoys full rights as everyone else in the Nigerian Society. 

This when achieved will reduce issues of victimisation, stigmatisation on the part of affected persons the law maker thundered.

In a bid to show appreciation  for able representation in the national Assembly, community leaders of Tsobo from Lamurde local Government Area of Adamawa State were in the National Assembly on a courtesy call to the Member Representing their constituency RT Hon Kwamoti Laori. 

The group who hinted that their visit is purely to applaud the law maker for his initiation of people- oriented projects also encouraged the legislator not to be deterred by detractors and traducers.

The group which was led by Mr Kefas Moses said they were at the office of Hon. Laori to appreciate him for the many legislative and infrastructure interventions he sponsored across his Constituency.

They particularly lauded the Motion for the reconstruction of the 90.5 km Lafiya- Karim Lamido road moved by the Member from where they maintained that posterity will always remember him for the noble gesture.

The group  who could not hide their joy over the Newly Constructed Clinic at Bunari in Suwa Ward highlighed that many lives have been lost due to the inaccessibility to health facility  experienced in the area, coupled with a poor road network.

The group also  appealed for the  extension of electricity supply from Rigange where the member  recently donated a 300KVA Power Transformer.

In his response the Federal Law maker informed the group of the relentless effort he is making to get the Minister of Works to appropriate for the road reconstruction at the aforementioned areas.

 While appreciating the Tsobo Community for the visit Hon. Laori urged them to remain united and continue to be good ambassadors of Tsobo in the FCT.

He assured the group that his doors are always open to constructive criticism and progressive ideas that would better the lives of the constituents.

The group assured the Law maker of their full solidarity and prayed God to continue to sustain him as he embarks on life impacting legislation at the National Assembly.

The award tagged " *The Grassroots Legislator of the Year* " was presented to Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B Laori. Member Representing Numan/Demsa/ Lamurde Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. 

In a brief ceremony, The Union Representatives Joses Jephthah Japheth (President) Miss Haruna Fatima (Vice President)and the Sec. Gen. Comrade Abraham Husseini Ngbale who were at the office of the Federal Law maker today for the presentation lauded the lawmaker on several areas of his purposeful representation.

In their separate remarks, the President and Sec. Gen. of the Union highlighted the outstanding performance of the legislator which according to them was phenomenal in bettering the lives of his Constituents at the grassroots. This they say cannot go unnoticed.

In his response, The Law maker appreciated the students for the honor and pledged to do more. "the reward for hard work is more work" he maintained.

The Law maker also counselled the students on the need to remain focus especially on their studies which is the primary objective for their being in the University.

He however challenged them to seek to develop their entrepreneur skills that would make them self- reliant in preparation for the competitive labour space of the 21st Century.

Hon. La'ori cautioned them against joining criminal gangs or cultist group but urged them to be worthy ambassadors of Adamawa State and their families in particular.

He further challenged them to make up their minds to reach for the best which he encouraged that it is achievable with determination, focus and hard work.

Another milestone was achieved at the Medan Teneke Hall Demsa, where the Federal Legislator trained and empowered women and youth on dry season farming.

The training was aimed at building the capacity of Women and youth in irrigation rice production for more yield.

The Women and Youth drawn from the 30 Wards of Numan/Demsa/Lamurde yesterday concluded the training after which participants received #30,000 to purchase improved seed and other inputs ahead of the next season.

Hon Kwamoti stressed the need for women and youth to see food production as lucrative business for both wealth and employment generation, the knowledge of which must constantly be improved upon for better yield.

The trainees who could not hide their joy for the knowledge achieved prayed God to bless the Member and promised to share the knowledge gained with others farmers in their various communities.

The Training Facilitator Kuleino Faruk also promise to follow up on the trainees to assess the impact of the training on rice production in their localities.

Certificates were also presented to graduates by the District Head of Demsa- who represented the Hama Bata.

The Federal Law maker was represented at the event by his Aides.

The Member representing Numan/Demsa/ Lamurde Federal Constituency at the National Assembly RT Hon Kwamoti Laori has been presented a *Merit Award* for the recognition of his services to God and humanity and also unveiled as a promoter of peace and unity in Adamawa State.

Laori, described as a man reputed for tireless sponsorship of various Christian Programs on TV and Radio for over a decade was singled out for the honour in recognition of these glaring feats.

In his citation during the event, the award organizers maintained that he is one among a few Nigerians working hard to ensure Christian Religious Knowledge remains essential part of the Nation's education curriculum as a character model for children.

They went further to enumerate some of his virtues as a man who is is indeed a defender of the Christian Faith in Adamawa State and Nigeria.

The citation on Laori included the fact that as a politician, he has distinguished himself as a true Representative of the body of Christ. The impressive citation further posited that laori is a man guided by his principles of integrity and truth further emphasizing that if he promises, he fulfils. They maintained that His words are bankable anytime.

In further recognition of his noble feats, it was noted that his attribute as a politician is comparable to Daniel, Joselp and Nehemiah in the Holy Scripture.

While also acknowledging his befitting Traditional title as Sunga - Takale - Batta (the sword of justice) , He was again highlighted as an advocate of the down trodden. It was also noted that he has a penchant for justice and fairness to all manner of people.

Commending him further, Hon. Kwamoti Laori was appreciated being that he serves in the capacity as a Patron to many Christian and humanitarian organizations, it was noted that His acts of philanthropy and kindness is worth emulation. 

It was also stressed that for Kwamoti, everything is about service to God and humanity which has been his guiding principle to life.

They further revealed that the award is deservedly bestowed on him and would spur the Law maker to do more for the spread of the Gospel of Peace in the world.
