Leaders and stakeholders from the nine Local Government Areas of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District have presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest form to Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, urging him to contest the 2027 senatorial election.

The presentation followed a large solidarity rally held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Pwanobato Event Hall in Numan. The gathering brought together representatives from Demsa, Ganye, Guyuk, Jada, Lamurde, Mayo-Belwa, Numan, Shelleng, and Toungo LGAs, who unanimously called on the lawmaker to represent the district at the Senate.

Demonstrating their commitment, the group procured the APC nomination and interest form valued at ₦20 million and formally presented it to Rt. Hon. Laori on May 2, 2026, in Numan.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Alhaji Ali Gurama urged the seasoned legislator to accept the call, citing his track record of service over the past 16 years in both the State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.

In his response, Rt. Hon. Laori expressed deep appreciation for the show of confidence and solidarity and formally accepted the nomination to contest the senatorial seat.

He urged the stakeholders to intensify their efforts to ensure their support translates into victory, emphasizing the need to mobilize party members across the district to rally behind his candidacy. He cautioned that failure to build consensus could weaken their chances at the party primaries.

Rt. Hon. Laori further assured that any aspirant who chooses to step down in support of his ambition would not regret the decision, while reiterating his commitment to an inclusive campaign and people-oriented representation.

He pledged to continue operating in line with the collective will of the people and promised not to disappoint if elected.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Rep. Kwamoti Laori, on the floor of the House, presented twelve reports addressing a wide range of public grievances requiring parliamentary intervention.

The petitions cut across issues of alleged unlawful dismissals, financial disputes, regulatory failures, electoral concerns, and community grievances. Prominent among them is a petition against Aso Savings and Loans PLC over the alleged fraudulent concession of a property in Galadimawa, Abuja, to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

Also presented was the long-standing petition by Bash Ali seeking intervention over the proposed Guinness World Record boxing bout in Africa, alongside allegations of sabotage by the National Sports Commission.

Several employment-related cases featured prominently, including petitions against the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the Nigeria Customs Service, the University of Calabar, and the Police Service Commission, all bordering on alleged unlawful dismissal and non-payment of entitlements.

In the private sector, the Committee reported on a dispute involving EAGELTEL Synergy Limited and MPS Technologies Limited over a N61.44 million debt and unethical business practices.

Community-focused petitions were also highlighted, including complaints against Xernergi Company Limited, the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) over alleged non-compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act, and a petition by a Delta State community seeking relief from operational impacts.

Other notable cases include allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over failure to investigate fraud claims linked to PWAN, and an Ondo State petition alleging illegal relocation of a polling unit.

The Committee further presented a petition against the Anambra State Government and security operatives over alleged extrajudicial killings in Owerre Izukala.

The presentation of the reports underscores the House’s ongoing oversight role in addressing citizens’ complaints and ensuring accountability across public and private institutions.

When it comes to human capital development and youth empowerment, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori has demonstrated exceptional commitment through impactful and measurable initiatives.

He was the first lawmaker from Adamawa State to sponsor 103 constituents to meet the criteria for the NIRSAL/AGSMEIS loan scheme, resulting in 72 beneficiaries accessing a total of ₦206,182,990.00. Individual beneficiaries received between ₦1 million and ₦3 million to strengthen their agricultural ventures.

Rt. Hon. Kwamoti has consistently provided scholarships to underprivileged students at secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, including PhD programs, across various institutions. He has also equipped many students with laptop computers to enhance their academic performance.

In the area of skill acquisition, he has sponsored no fewer than 200 youths in diverse vocational fields such as shoemaking, tailoring, confectionery and bakery, and cosmetology. Each trainee receives startup support or financial assistance to expand existing businesses.

Over the years, he has empowered thousands of constituents through agricultural support programs, distributing water pumps, herbicides, fertilizers, grinding machines, salon kits, electric generators, and knapsack sprayers to boost productivity and livelihoods.

Rt. Hon. Kwamoti has also facilitated employment opportunities for many constituents in both the public and private sectors, including placements in the military and law enforcement services at both junior and officer cadres.

Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, formally inaugurated the House Ad Hoc Committee mandated to investigate and appraise the performance and benefits accruing to the Federal Government from concessionaires operating air and seaport terminals, logistics facilities, and related shipping activities from 2006 to 2025.

The inauguration followed a resolution of the House of Representatives at its Tuesday plenary sitting, consequent upon the adoption of a Matter of Urgent Public Importance. The motion expressed concerns that nearly two decades after the concessioning of port terminal operations to private operators, the anticipated improvements in port infrastructure, operational efficiency, and service delivery have not been fully realised.

It was further observed that several concessionaires have allegedly failed to meet their contractual capital investment obligations, thereby undermining efficiency, revenue assurance, transparency, and the overall development of the maritime and aviation logistics sectors.

The Committee is tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of concession agreements, assessing levels of compliance, evaluating financial and infrastructural benefits accruing to the Federal Government, and making appropriate recommendations to strengthen oversight, accountability, and policy implementation within the sector.

The Ad Hoc Committee is to be cahired by Rep. Kolawole Davidson Akinlayo (APC, Ekiti) and Rep. Harrison Anozie Nwadike (APC, Imo) as Deputy Chairman.
