COUNTERING AMB AA UBA'S TIRADE ON FINTIRI by George Kushi

These days it has become the vogue to try at all cost to be relevant. The bad thing however is that some are trying to  do that at all cost. It is therefore not surprising that a self-aclaimed ambassador,AA Uba has released a video which has gone viral claiming to represent a faceless group.

In a tirade reminiscent of a politically frustrated man he painted a jaundiced picture of the Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru  Fintiri. His grouse against the government rests on the fact that Governor  Fintiri's government  has been stingy by failing to dole out money to his ilk. In his tirade,he lambasted the governor for sending him "only two hundred  thousand Naira".

To have come up with this accusation says much about the kind of person he is. Of great interest is that he did not say how he merited the governor's largese other than the fact he was a supporter years back. For all his rantings he is only one of hundreds of thousands that voted Fintiri. His vote, like every other vote was important and was important to the overall victory for good governance that we all craved ,but that was where AA Uba should have ended his tirade.

Like himself, thousands voted for Fintiri,if he really did,but not all  folded their  hands waiting for handouts to bail them  out of poverty or hunger. Since when  has the privilege to serve as a governor become an avenue for enriching "family and friends"?  AA Uba ,however to the contrary of democratic norms thinks that personal empowerment of friends is a virtue and he  used it to extol Nyako.

Many that have not received " only two hundred thousand "are  however pleased with the results of this administration that has kept its promise of good governance. The hunger driven needs of political hangers-on is not ,and should not be the focus of an accountable government. AA Uba would have elicited sympathy if he had mentioned promises that are unfulfilled, rather than his personal problems.

Fintiri never promised to distribute money to individuals and is therefore not obligated to do so.

While trying to be relevant,at least to those that out of envy try to vilify Fintiri,Uba exposed hidden features beneath his otherwise well fed exterior;greed. Our common wealth is not for the governor to dash out. The people of Adamawa voted for Fintiri and will hold him accountable for  any amount spent. Yet, Ambassador Uba did not tell us wether he rejected the money sent to him nor bothered to intimate us on how he earned or deserved it. His claims of not being poor is proof that Uba does not know what poverty is all about. Poverty is in the first  instance is moral bankruptcy, followed by intellectual insufficiency, then greed and finally financial insatiability. Uba should critically assess these before declaring into which category he belongs.

Another area of interest that Uba touched on is the issue of how Fintiri came to office. In this the "complainant" seems to have forgotten that to us that believe it n God,power emanates from Him(God").His claims of billions spent to place Fintiri in the seat of government is erroneous. If billions were doled out is a different issue, but a closer look will reveal that the least funded governorship campaign was that of Fintiri. His campaign was made up of so few vehicles such that supporters paid for the vehicles that transported them. For the sake of clarity, the "donors" should audit those they sent with those horrendous sums that were  pocketed by greedy hangers-on that abound in Yola, while those that voted saw little in the rural areas. For such amounts to prove useful,Uba should be placed in charge by any candidate audacious enough to trust him.

In essence, Uba needs a rethink on his political views as he tries to bring religion into it. Why the issue of Hajj? Was part of the campaign promise? It is good to go on pilgrimage to Mecca, but nowhere is it said that the government must sponsor intending pilgrims(both Christian and Moslem). Bringing the issue of "alfarma" is not commensurate with the tenets of both Christianity a nd Islam, especially in a situation where the really poor that cannot afford the fare wallow in rural areas. This is not your say that the government does not,and is not sponsoring pilgrims, but to point out to Uba that on this issue his accusation is unfortunately misplaced because he is not speaking on behalf of those that really matter as far as the issue is concerned.

As if that is not enough, the same person that is trying to show concern on a Godly issue, the same person fighting for those that intend to go on pilgrimage and seek forgiveness is at the same time preaching vengeance and vindictiveness from those that Fintiri might have offended. He is not saying how had been offended by his ungratefulness

for" only two hundred thousand Naira",but has promised to mobilise against any attempt to foster peace through reconciliation.

In all honesty can this person be considered as one that really means well to Adamawa State? From all indications, this man is an enemy to peace,an enemy to the people of Adamawa State,an enemy to Nigeria and in fact an enemy to mankind. Such should cast out religious communities, kept away from all that pray for meaningful progress in society, because only  the devil is pleased with people.

Islam means peace. How does Uba expect peace to reign without forgiveness? No doubt the devil is in his workshop;an idle mind. God is all forgiving. Uba should learn to forgive before the bitterness in him and love for rewards from people around him consume and send him to  perdition.
