In a major boost to educational infrastructure in Demsa Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, has commissioned a newly constructed and fully furnished block of six classrooms at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Dilli — a riverside community along the Benue River.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Rep. Laori expressed deep appreciation to the people of Dilli for their continued trust and support. He noted that the project fulfills a campaign promise and emphasized the importance of community ownership. He urged residents to protect the facility, plant trees to beautify the environment, and maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere for learning.
To further encourage academic excellence, Rep. Laori awarded ₦200,000 each to the school’s best graduating student and best graduating female student.
As a mark of gratitude, the Dilli community presented the lawmaker with symbolic gifts—a traditional spear and dried fish—signifying respect and appreciation.
Rev. Samson Kumbita, PDP Chairman of Dilli Ward, praised Rep. Laori’s dedication to education and described him as a visionary leader. The school’s principal, Rev. Mrs. Faith Jerimond Ndu, expressed relief that the long-standing classroom shortage had been resolved. She appealed to the Adamawa State Government for the urgent recruitment of teaching staff, renovation of the dilapidated examination hall, and the provision of science and technical laboratories.
Hon. Akham Jalo, Chairman of Demsa LGA, commended Rep. Laori’s equitable development across the constituency and pledged the council’s continued support.
Also in attendance were traditional leaders including Chief Reuben Nanamo, District Head of Dilli, and Chief Lawsom Gadiel Nayina, who represented HRM Murum Bwaltam Bently Biyapo (Mboiman II). Both praised Rep. Laori’s commitment to education and meaningful development.
The event was enlivened by cultural displays, traditional dances, and a student-led horse-riding procession, making it a colorful and memorable celebration.
Other dignitaries present included Hon. James Iliya, Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy; Hon. Bulus Daniel, Chairman of Lamurde LGA; and Chief Niwesa George Kushi, Chairman of the Jimeta Ultra Modern Market Board, who also represented Hon. Mrs. Kate Mamuno, Majority Leader and Member representing Demsa State Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Elknah Kados and Hon. Wenakam Wesley Fwa, both former Chairmen of Demsa LGA, Hon. Lumsam Bani, Former member state house of Assembly.
Also in attendance were district heads from surrounding communities, party stalwarts, and other stakeholders.
