**Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Laori Earns National Recognition for His Motion on Viral Hepatitis**

 



The Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori has received national accolades for his pivotal motion aimed at enhancing awareness, testing, treatment, and vaccination for Hepatitis B among children under five years old. This commendation comes from Dr. Nseabasi Ekanem, the National Coordinator and President of the Civil Society Network on Hepatitis in Nigeria.


Dr. Ekanem praised Rep. Laori for championing a motion that led to the passage of crucial resolutions mandating the Federal Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Information and Communication to ramp up public awareness campaigns. These efforts seek to improve knowledge about testing, treatment, and vaccination, thereby curbing the spread of viral hepatitis across Nigeria.


The coalition backing this initiative includes esteemed health-focused organizations such as the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the Africa Centre for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the World Hepatitis Alliance, and the Hepatitis B Foundation, among others. They collectively applaud Rep. Laori for prioritizing the health of Nigerians and enhancing the welfare of citizens.


The motion, presented by Rep. Laori on January 2025 during a session of the House of Representatives, has garnered widespread commendation from health advocacy groups nationwide. Many have proposed him for the title of National Health Ambassador in recognition of his timely and impactful efforts to save lives and improve health outcomes for Nigerians.


In an interview with Arise TV, Dr. Ekanem highlighted the alarming statistic that over 20 million Nigerians are currently living with the Hepatitis B virus, with more than half remaining unaware of their status. He emphasized the urgent need for increased awareness and proactive measures to prevent further spread of this critical health issue.

*REP. KWAMOTI EMPOWERS CONSTITUENTS WITH ESSENTIAL FARM INPUTS*

 



In a significant move to empower farmers in the Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Rep. Kwamoti B. Laori has successfully distributed NPK fertilizer and the improved rice seed variety, FARO 67, aimed at boosting food production and enhancing farmers' incomes.


This initiative, which targets over one thousand constituents, is designed to ensure that every polling unit in the area benefits from these vital resources. The timely intervention comes as many farmers prepare for dry season rice farming, a critical strategy in response to the recurring floods that frequently devastate farmlands in the region. 












During the distribution event, Hon. Kate Mamuno, Majority Leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and representative for Demsa State Constituency, conveyed Rep. Laori’s appreciation to the ward representatives who collected the inputs on behalf of their communities. She urged them to ensure that the materials are utilized effectively and not sold, emphasizing their role in boosting food production and alleviating poverty in rural areas.


Rep. Laori highlighted that the high-yielding improved seeds, if properly utilized, could position Demsa/Numan/Lamurde as a leading exporter of rice, as well as of improved rice seeds within the subregion. 


The flag-off ceremony saw participation from various dignitaries, including Hon. Bauna Myandasa, member representing Lamurde State Constituency, Hon. Chief Niwesa George Kushi, Board Chairman of the Jimeta Ultra Modern Market,  Hon. Maimuna Bariki, Vice Chair of Numan LGA,  Hon. Mennas Ngangurah, CEO of Adamawa State Mining Company, Hon. Wenakam Wesley, Hon. Pwagwadi Omeno, Elder Amna Ibrahim Farai, Sole Administrators of State Development Areas, alongside numerous party stakeholders and leaders of farmers’ associations.


The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Rep. Kwamoti for his generous support, praying for his continued success and advancement in leadership for his exemplary representation of the community.
