*HOR Member Kwamoti Laori flags of fertilizer distribution to constituents*






 

To make it easy for farmers to access agricultural inputs at these trying times, the member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori has flagged off the distribution of free fertilizer to his constituents in order to  boost their food production. 


The event which took place at the Reps Constituency Office in Numan attracted a lot farmers from nooks and crannies of the  constituency. The distribution process was orderly coordinated in a manner that saw many benefiting from the noble gesture of the law maker loading vehicles to take off. 



Represented at the flag off by the Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. James Iliya, the law maker thanked his constituents for their unwavering support and faith in him, he assured the people of bringing more dividends of democracy to their door steps given the slightest opportunity. 


Hon. Kwamoti also appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell the product but to instead make judicious use of it to boost their farm yield thereby guaranteeing bountiful harvest and more money and financial benefits. 


Speaking at the event Engr. Lyentapwa Garba, Board Chairman, Adamawa State Road Maintenance Agency, thanked the law maker for making the distribution seemless by providing all necessary logistics to ensure the products reaches the targeted farmers throughout the constituency via their Ward representatives. Garba appealled for more support and prayers for  the member to enable him do more for his constituents. 














Responding, on behalf of the visibly elated  beneficiaries, the trio of Hon. Godday Namiji, Happy Maxwell and Piyeno Dore who served as Distribution Committee applauded the responsive and visionary leadership style of the law maker, they also thanked Hon Kwamoti for being sensitive to the need of his constituents given his  invaluable  and prompt intervention. 


In his closing remarks, Hon. Pwagwadi Omeno thanked Hon. Innocent Koto, Hon. Bulus Daniel, Hon. Akham  Jalo -Chairmen of Numan, Lamurde and Demsa LGC and all other dignitaries present for their support and cooperation at all times.


The symbolic presentation of the  bags of fertilizers to the representatives of the 3 LGAs performed by Hon. James Iliya, Engr. Garba Lyentapwa and Hon. Mennas Ngangurah, Board Chairman, Adamawa State Mining Company, marked a significant highlight of the event. 


The current hardship and threat of food security in the country has spurred Hon Kwamoti Laori into embarking on massive empowerment programmes within his contituency. These programs which have become an almost weekly routine  is bringing to three the number of empowerment done by him in a month. 


It could be recalled that the member has only recently sponsored the training and empowerment of  farmers,  donation of cash and farm inputs and also the empowerment of women on peace building where millions were donated to women as livelihood  support.

*Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori and House of Reps Committee on CSR Visits Oziengbe Flow Station in Ajoki Community of Edo State.*

 








The member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency and members of the House of Reps Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) were on an oversight visit at Ajoki community of Edo State to assess the impact of oil and gas exploration and implementation of CSR by the Federal Government and Companies operating in the area. 


The law maker noted that though oil and gas exploration negatively affects environment and livelihood especially in farming and fishing communities, it is the responsibility of government and companies operating in the area to ensure some basic social amenities are put in place to make life better for the people. 


One salient responsibility of the committee is to ensure all communities where exploration activities are taking place are justly treated, also benefits fairly from the proceeds of the mineral resources being explored, in form of basic infrastructure that improves living standards of the people and empowerment. 


The Committee led by it's Deputy Chairman, Hon. Afuape Afolabi during the visit received some requests of the community which may need appropriations and legislative action to address; assured them of the committee's resolve to engage all relevant stakeholders for the demands to get the attention it deserves.


In his remarks Rep. Kwamoti applauded the Community for voluntarily protecting the Government Flow Station and other oil and gas exploration facilities in their area against vandalism, describing it as exemplary. 


The visit afforded the committee an opportunity to observe and engage directly with members of the host community; gaining first hand information and insight on the level of CSR implementation in the area.


According to Hon. Kwamoti, the cordial reception accorded the committee contradicts the erroneous widely held opinion that Niger Delta Youths are hostile and restive; called on all to avoid misjudgement. 


The law maker described the whole experience of the oversight exercise as generally seamless, peaceful and mutual beneficial.

*REP. LAORI SPONSORS THE TRAINING OF 150 WOMEN ON COMMUNITY PEACE BUILDING AND RESILIENCE, DOLES OUT CASH DONATIONS TO PARTICIPANTS*

  



In a bid to bolster an all inclusive community security engagement, Women from Demsa/Numan/Lamurde federal constitiency  have benefited from an empowerment program sponsored by Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori.


Given that tension is high with threats emanating from an ongoing nationwide protest against bad governance, hunger and insecurity, the law maker sponsored the training and empowerment of 150 women on peace building and resilience so as to equip them with the conflict resolution skills and strategy for resilience in the event of conflicts and humanitarian crisis. 







The training  which was  uniquely  organized drew seasoned research fellows from the prestigious Institute of Peace and Conflicts Resolution Abuja - Barr Paul Gwaza and Mrs Aisha Esther Arigu who engaged participants. 


The  3 days intensive training  was both theoretical and practical leveraging on past farmers-herders conflicts and disaster which affected the constituency in recent time and the resilience demonstrated by women in managing the crisis afterwards. 


The training manual  covered building blocks of peace,  tools and strategies for post- conflicts resilience needed to build the capacity of women to actively participate in peace building, advocacy and decision making in their various  locations. 


Delivering his keynote address, Hon. Kwamoti applauded the beneficiaries for their cooperation and conduct during the training. He also encouraged them to be peace ambassadors in their communities with a view to promoting harmonious coexistence. 


He further urged participants to transfer  the knowledge gained in transforming the minds of people in their sphere of influence to promote peace. The law maker also promised to sponsor similar training and empowerment for the youth. 






Speaker after speaker like HE Piton P. Power, former acting governor, Adamawa State, Hon. James Iliya, Hon. Pwamwakaino Makondo, Hon. Pawikai Bauna Myandasa, Hon. Talatu Yohana, Hon. Salisu Buba, Hon. Mrs Juhanna Adiksikti, Chief Pwavidon Jaule, Elder Amna Ibrahim Farai,

the Hama Bachama, Chairmen of Demsa, Lamurde and Numan LGAs- Hon. Chief Akham Jalo; Hon. Bulus Daniel, Hon. Innocent Koto were unanimous in encouraging trainees to use the knowledge gained to ensure peace and harmony reigns in their various locations. Also urged participants to shun any act that fuels conflict and crisis. 


The various  speakers also applauded Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori's visionary leadership and quality represention at the National Assembly where they equally  prayed for God's guidance, wisdom and protection over his life and that of his family. 


Expressing  appreciation, the participants thanked the law maker with the promise to be peace ambassadors for Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori in their various locations. 


Dignitaries at the occasion included Prof. Dishi M. Khobe, Adviser to the Adamawa State Government on Food Security, Hon. Pwagwadi Omeno SA to the State Governor, Hon. Niwesa George Kushi (Pipiyo Bata), the Chairmen of PDP in Numan, Hon. Pwadadi Hassan among several others. 


Highlight of the event included the presentation of certificates and cash donations of over fifteen million naira to the participants. 

The training which ended on a positive note saw participants leaving in gratitude for being empowered from where they will in turn make maximum utility of the knowledge gained for impactful peace building in their various communities.
